WASHINGTON, D.C. – I am an investigative journalist with more than 18 years of experience working for newspapers, magazines and websites across the country. I specialize in covering legal and social justice issues, psychology and the arts. I also am a seasoned editor who helps writers improve their copy.
After graduating with honors in journalism from the University of North Carolina, I covered a wide variety of beats for newspapers in North Carolina, Florida and New Mexico. In Washington, D.C., I served as news editor and investigative reporter for
Legal Times. I am now a freelance journalist who handles reporting and editing assignments.
My investigative projects have won many journalism awards and triggered needed public policy reforms. An
Albuquerque Journal series about a deadly heroin epidemic in New Mexico led to a U.S. Senate subcommittee hearing and increased drug treatment funding that helped save lives. Other projects for
Legal Times triggered the dismissal of felony drug charges against 13 defendants and a criminal investigation of a slumlord for illegal housing conditions.
My work has been cited by
The Washington Post and other publications, including law journals, court briefs and an anthology about false confessions. I also have appeared on American University public radio, C-SPAN and Fox News to discuss my work.
