I n v e s t i g a t i v e   J o u r n a l i s m

My investigative projects have provided a voice for people who have been ignored or crushed by the system and led to needed reforms. I have broken stories about government corruption, misbehaving judges, police misconduct and suspicious deaths of disabled residents in group homes. D.C. jail officials instituted a new suicide prevention policy after I reported on failures to treat two mentally ill inmates who killed themselves.

At The News-Journal in Daytona Beach, I revealed the illegal wiretapping of a city clerk’s office, and I helped free a teenager wrongfully charged for a high-profile murder. In New Mexico, I exposed the shady history of a uranium enrichment company and the state’s failure to discipline dentists who performed shoddy work or abused prescription drugs.
